Restaurant Photographer London | Private Members’ Restaurant

Hidden within a private office building in London, this restaurant is one of the most intriguing hospitality spaces I’ve had the chance to photograph — a space created for a private client and designed to feel like a world of its own, entirely separate from the building around it. As a restaurant photographer working across London, I was commissioned to capture the space in full, from the bar and dining areas through to the finer details that give the room its character.

The design leans firmly into a vintage, clubhouse atmosphere — exposed pipework and industrial lighting sit above a dark wood, marble-topped bar, with a glowing neon infinity sign anchoring the space. Underfoot, a bold patterned tiled floor grounds the room, while a dramatic crystal chandelier and a gallery wall of black-and-white photography lend the space a sense of history and occasion. Deep blue velvet booths and a pool table complete the picture — a room built for long evenings, good company, and total privacy.

Photographing a space this layered meant working carefully with contrast and reflection throughout — balancing the warmth of the bar lighting against the sparkle of the chandelier, and giving equal attention to the smaller details, from the vintage photography on the walls to the individual textures of wood, marble, and velvet that define the room. Every corner of the space had its own character, so the shoot moved between wide, atmospheric views of the bar and lounge, and closer, more intimate shots that captured the craftsmanship in the joinery, upholstery, and lighting fixtures throughout.

Because of the private nature of this commission, discretion was as much a part of the brief as the photography itself — the images needed to convey the exclusivity and atmosphere of the space without ever identifying the building or client behind it. The result is a set of images that capture that atmosphere in full — a private restaurant built entirely on its own terms.
